Massage Therapy Services

At Restoration Massage Therapy, we specialize in a number of massage techniques. If you are not sure which one is for you, it is our pleasure to help you choose the type that best meets your needs.

Neuromuscular Technique

Neuromuscular Technique is an advanced system of soft tissue manipulation which specializes in working with chronic myofascial pain syndromes.

Its effectiveness is based on the practitioner’s thorough assessment of the soft tissues – muscles, ligaments, and periosteal attachments – as well as the skillful isolation and treatment of affected areas, appropriate use of pressure, and an addressing and reduction of the casual factors contributing to the chronic pain pattern.

The nervous system plays a central role in producing and perpetuating chronic pain, and it is a practitioner’s understanding of nerve reflexes and physiology that makes this technique particularly effective.

Neuromuscular Therapy Stress Factors

  • Overuse Syndromes / Biomechanical Lifestyle
  • Sleep / Rest Habits
  • Nutrition / Water Intake
  • Chemical / Coffee / Neuro-Stimulants / Alcohol / Tobacco, etc.
  • Disease
  • Trauma / Surgery / Accident / Injury
  • Psycho-Emotional Distress
  • Improper Exercise / Excessive
  • Postural Stress / Posture Dysfunction

Myofascial Release Technique

Myofascial release (or MFR) is an alternative medicine therapy that is used to treat skeletal muscle immobility and pain by relaxing contracted muscles, improving blood and lymphatic circulation, and stimulating the stretch reflex in muscles.

Myofascial technique alleviates myofascial trigger points.

Myofascial Trigger Point - A hyperirritable spot, usually within a taut band of skeletal muscle or in the muscle’s fascia, which is painful on compression and can give rise to characteristic referred pain, tenderness, and autonomic phenomena.

Swedish Massage Technique

The primary goal for Swedish massage is to relax the entire body. This is accomplished by massaging the muscles with long gliding strokes in the direction of blood flow that is returning to the heart.

Sports Massage

A sports massage is ideal for treating injuries, as well as for preventative treatment dealing with the health of muscle and connective tissue, range of movement, tone, symmetry, balance of muscle, and quality of posture.

Prenatal Massage

Massage therapy during pregnancy is a wonderful complementary choice for prenatal care. It is a healthy way to reduce stress and promote overall wellness. Massage relieves many of the normal discomforts experienced during pregnancy, such as backaches, stiff neck, leg cramps, headaches, sciatica, and edema (or swelling).

Medical Massage

Medical massage is prescribed and intended to resolve conditions that have been diagnosed and prescribed by a physician. The massage therapist can use a variety of modalities or techniques, but will focus the medical massage session on the areas of the body related to the diagnosis.
